Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened at room temperature
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter preferably natural without added sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar for sweetness
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda for leavening
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to enhance flavors
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional, for added richness

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, creamy peanut butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the sifted flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed in the dough.
  • Scoop large balls of dough (about 1/4 cup each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with the palm of your hand.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Tip 1: For the perfect chewy texture, do not overbake the cookies; they will continue to firm up while cooling.
Tip 2: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Variation: Substitute half of the peanut butter with almond butter for a different flavor profile.
