For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed to 110°F (43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Lemon Filling:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

Zest of 2 lemons

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Optional: additional lemon zest for garnish

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well.

      - In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs until combined.

        - Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

          Knead the Dough:

            - Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

              - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.

                Make the Lemon Filling:

                  - In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add in the sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and fully combined.

                    Roll Out the Dough:

                      - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

                        Add the Filling:

                          - Spread the lemon filling evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving about 1/2 inch border on the edges.

                            Shape the Rolls:
