Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups dried hibiscus flowers ensure they are food-grade
  • 4 cups water for steeping
  • 1 cup granulated sugar adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice for acidity
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to enhance flavor
  • 1 cup ice cubes for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the 2 cups of dried hibiscus flowers and grated ginger. Stir gently and reduce heat to a simmer.
  • Let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the hibiscus to release its vibrant color and flavor. The tea should turn a deep red hue.
  • After simmering, remove the pot from heat and strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove the hibiscus flowers and ginger pieces.
  • While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Add the fresh lime juice and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  • Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 15 minutes before serving. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with lime slices and mint leaves.
