Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Hojicha tea leaves lightly roasted
  • 4 cups water for brewing
  • 2 cups whole milk or non-dairy alternative
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor enhancement
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon for a warm spice note
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional sweetener
  • 1 cup whipped cream for topping
  • cocoa powder for dusting on top, optional

Instructions
 

  • Boil 4 cups of water in a kettle. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 2 cups of hojicha tea leaves. Steep for 5-7 minutes based on desired strength.
  • Strain the brewed hojicha into a saucepan, discarding the leaves. Stir in 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and heat over low until sugar is dissolved and the mixture is warm.
  • In a separate pot, heat 2 cups of whole milk over medium heat, stirring constantly until it begins to steam but not boil. Remove from heat and whisk vigorously to create froth.
  • Combine the warm hojicha tea with the frothed milk in a large pitcher. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, stirring gently to mix.
  • Pour the hojicha latte into four cups, filling each about three-quarters full. Top each cup with a generous dollop of whipped cream and drizzle with honey if desired.
  • For a decorative touch, dust the whipped cream with a sprinkle of cocoa powder. Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious flavors!
