Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups dried hibiscus flowers soaked in water for 10 minutes
  • 4 cups water divided
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adjust based on sweetness preference
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice for added acidity
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional for depth of flavor
  • 2 cups ice cubes for blending
  • 1 lime lime wedges for garnish
  • mint leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine the dried hibiscus flowers with 2 cups of water and let it soak for about 10 minutes until softened.
  • After soaking, strain the hibiscus flowers and reserve the liquid. Rinse the flowers under cold water and set aside.
  • In a blender, combine the soaked hibiscus flowers, the reserved liquid, remaining 2 cups of water, sugar, lime juice, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  • Add the ice cubes to the blended mixture and blend again until the ice is finely crushed and everything is well combined.
  • Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness if needed by adding more sugar or lime juice. Blend briefly to mix.
  • Pour the frozen hibiscus agua fresca into glasses, garnish with lime wedges and fresh mint leaves before serving.

Notes

Tip 1: Use cold water for soaking to speed up the process.
Tip 2: Store leftovers in a sealed container in the freezer for a refreshing treat later.
