Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1 tablespoon vanilla extract (optional for extra flavor)

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll Out the Pastry: Unroll the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Gently roll it out to smoothen any creases.

Prepare Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. If using vanilla extract, mix it in as well.

Cut the Puff Pastry: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the puff pastry into strips, about 1 inch wide and 8 inches long.

Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: Sprinkle a generous amount of the cinnamon sugar mixture over each strip of pastry. Make sure to cover both sides for maximum flavor.

Twist the Pastry: Take each strip and twist it several times, creating a spiral effect. Place the twisted strips onto the prepared baking sheet.

Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the twisted pastries with the beaten egg to achieve a beautiful golden color while baking.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they're puffed up and golden brown.

Cool & Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. You can sprinkle additional cinnamon sugar on top if desired.
