Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in skin-on chicken thighs trimmed of excess fat
  • 1/2 cup honey preferably local or raw
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low-sodium is recommended
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar for acidity
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for searing
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Season the chicken thighs with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar until well combined.
  • In a large oven-safe skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs skin-side down and sear for about 5-7 minutes or until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  • Flip the chicken thighs over and pour the honey garlic sauce over the top. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Once cooked, remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. Spoon the sauce over the chicken before plating.

Notes

Tip 1: For extra flavor, marinate the chicken thighs in the honey garlic sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
Tip 2: Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Variation: Substitute chicken thighs with chicken breasts or tofu for a lighter option.
