Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dried elderflower blossoms for steeping
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 1 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 4 cups water divided into 2 cups for steeping and 2 cups for dilution
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest for added flavor
  • 1 tablespoon citric acid for tartness
  • 1 cup sparkling water optional for fizzy lemonade
  • ice cubes for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the dried elderflower blossoms. Cover and let steep for 20 minutes.
  • After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the elderflowers. Add the granulated sugar to the warm elderflower infusion and stir until fully dissolved.
  • In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, lemon zest, and citric acid. Pour the elderflower syrup into the pitcher and mix well.
  • Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water and stir until combined. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more sugar or lemon juice.
  • If desired, add sparkling water for a fizzy version. Serve the elderflower lemonade over ice, garnished with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves.

Tip 1: For a more intense floral flavor, let the elderflower steep for an additional 10 minutes.
Tip 2: This lemonade can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
