Ingredients

1 box angel food cake mix

1 1/4 cups water

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Optional: chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping

Instructions

Prepare the Angel Food Cake: In a large mixing bowl, combine the angel food cake mix and water. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 1 minute, or until well combined and fluffy. Do not overmix.

Preheat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or heavy-bottomed pot, pour enough oil to be about 2 inches deep. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

Make the Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

Fry the Bites: Using a small cookie scoop or a spoon, drop dollops of the angel food cake batter into the hot oil, frying only a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown on each side, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Drain and Coat: Once golden, use a slotted spoon to remove the churro bites from the oil. Let them drain on paper towels. While still warm, roll the bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve: Arrange the churro bites on a plate and drizzle with melted butter, if desired. Serve warm with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.
