Ingredients
  

  • 1 large cucumber peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves packed
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 1/2 cup agave syrup or honey, to taste
  • 4 cups cold water or sparkling water for bubbles
  • 1 cup ice cubes for serving
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt to enhance flavors
  • 2 slices lemon for garnish
  • 2 slices cucumber for garnish
  • 1 sprig basil for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a blender, combine the peeled and sliced cucumber with 1 cup of cold water. Blend until smooth and then strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher to extract the cucumber juice.
  • In the same blender, add the fresh basil leaves, freshly squeezed lemon juice, agave syrup, and sea salt. Blend until completely combined. Strain this mixture through the sieve into the cucumber juice in the pitcher.
  • Add the remaining 3 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir well to combine all the flavors. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more agave syrup.
  • Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together.
  • To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the chilled Cucumber Basil Lemonade over the ice, and garnish with lemon slices, cucumber slices, and a sprig of basil.

Notes

Tip 1: For an extra refreshing touch, add a splash of sparkling water just before serving.
Tip 2: This lemonade can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Variation: Add a splash of coconut water for a tropical twist.
