When it comes to baking, the technique can significantly impact your final product, especially in cookie-making. After you’ve creamed your butter and sugars and incorporated your eggs, it’s time to add your dry ingredients. The key here is to fold in your flour mixture gently. This method involves using a spatula or wooden spoon to lift the mixture from the bottom and fold it over the top.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup blue cookies (such as crushed blue Oreos or blue sprinkles)

1 cup frosting (store-bought or homemade, blue in color)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.

Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips and crushed blue cookies, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop heaping portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once the cookies are cool, use a spatula or knife to spread blue frosting on top of each cookie, giving them a delightful blue “monster” look.

To finish, sprinkle extra blue cookie crumbs or blue sprinkles on top for added decoration.
