Chocolate Poke Cake

Ingredients
  

1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)

1 cup water

1/2 cup vegetable oil

3 large eggs

1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

1 cup chocolate syrup

1 cup whipped topping (Cool Whip)

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Optional: chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions
 

Prepare the Cake:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

      - Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

        - In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well blended, about 2 minutes.

          - Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

            Poke Holes:

              - Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.

                - Use the handle of a wooden spoon or a fork to poke holes all over the top of the cake, about 1 inch apart.

                  Add the Syrupy Goodness:

                    - In a mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup, stirring until smooth.

                      - Pour this mixture slowly over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes. Allow the cake to absorb the mixture for about 30 minutes at room temperature.

                        Frost the Cake:

                          - After the cake has set, spread the whipped topping evenly over the top.

                            - Sprinkle the mini chocolate chips over the whipped topping. If desired, garnish with chocolate shavings for an extra touch.

                              Chill and Serve:

                                - Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to set completely. This chilling time enhances the flavors.
