Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup cake mix (any flavor)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles (plus extra for topping)

Buttercream Frosting:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

2 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Food coloring (optional)

Extra sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cake mix, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and milk until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Blend Ingredients: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix. Fold in the rainbow sprinkles.

Bake the Bars: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.

Prepare Buttercream Frosting: In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with milk, until you reach a smooth and spreadable consistency. Mix in vanilla extract. If desired, add food coloring to enhance the frosting.

Frost the Bars: Once the bars are completely cool, lift them out using the parchment paper overhang. Place on a cutting board and spread the buttercream frosting evenly over the top.

Garnish: Sprinkle additional rainbow sprinkles over the frosted bars for an extra touch of color and fun.

Serve: Cut into squares and serve for a delightful treat at parties, gatherings, or a sweet afternoon snack!
