Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

1 cup unsalted butter

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

For the Cheesecake Layer:

16 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup fresh blackberries (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal.

Prepare the Brownie Base: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove it from the heat and stir in the granulated sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Spread the Brownie Batter: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly across the bottom.

Make the Cheesecake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until fully incorporated. Then add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

Fold in the Blackberries: Carefully fold in the fresh blackberries into the cheesecake batter, being cautious not to crush them too much.

Layer the Cheesecake Mixture: Spoon the cheesecake batter over the brownie base, spreading it evenly. You can create a marbled effect by gently swirling the edges with a knife.

Bake the Brownies: Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center has a slight jiggle. A toothpick should come out with some moist crumbs, but not wet batter.

Cool and Serve: Let the brownies cool at room temperature in the pan for about 1 hour, then transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results. Cut into squares and serve with extra blackberries on top.
