4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crispiness)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Olive oil spray or 2 tablespoons olive oil

Prepare the Oven and Chicken: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with olive oil or use parchment paper.

    Create the Coating: In a large bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

      Prep the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel to ensure a crispy coating.

        Coat the Chicken: Dip each chicken breast into the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even coating. Place the coated chicken breasts onto the prepared baking sheet.

          Bake the Chicken: If using olive oil, lightly spray or drizzle it over the coated chicken for added crispiness. Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown.

            Add Marinara and Cheese: Remove the chicken from the oven and carefully spoon marinara sauce over each breast. Top generously with shredded mozzarella cheese.

              Final Baking: Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 5-8 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.

                Garnish and Serve: Once done, take the chicken out of the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve with pasta, salad, or your favorite side.
